THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO RAISED THE FUNDS
FOR THE URGENT MAINTENANCE AT ST RAPHAEL
(December 2009)
With the re-slating of the north roof these works are now complete and, with the installation of the wood burner in remembrance of Mrs Rosemary Mudge, the building will now be allowed to dry out over the next two years pending redecoration.
Again, thank you very much for your donations and fundraising activities that have made this possible.
(January 2010)
The recent maintenance program has secured the fabric of the chapel, however the vestry is in a very poor state of repair and needs replacing.
A detailed planning application is in the process of being submitted on our behalf by the Dartmoor Forest Parish Council for its demolition and for a small enlargement of the car park. The new building will include a small kitchen and disabled toilet, the inclusion of which will enable use for community purposes.
The plans do not include any changes to the chapel as this is a unique place of worship and pilgrimage. The estimates for the rebuilding including the supply and disposal of water are in the region of £40,000. This will be a four to five year capital project for which outside funding will be sought.
Hopefully we can continue to rely on the extremely generous support that we have received from everyone in the very recent past.
All donations, will be gratefully received and faithfully applied, in favour of 'St Raphael's Church, Huccaby' by use of the gift aid scheme if appropriate for tax purposes or by sending them to
The Church Warden (Mrs Val Andrews - Tel: 05601 543679).
Thank you very much indeed.
